Coat of Arms

The Baron of Irrus’ Arms feature the following elements;

Per pale Argent and Gules two bars counterchanged; a chief Sable charged with three martlets Argent. The crest atop a chapeau Gules turned up Argent a lion rampant Sable crowned with a coronet trefle. The words “Honor, Virtus, Probitas”.

The symbolism of this is as follows;
– The counterchanged bars are a canting and reference to similar arms granted to those of the Barratt name.
– The three white martlets in a black chief are both a reference to similar Barratt arms and also allude to the Baron’s birthplace of Leeds.
– The chapeau alludes to the Barons position as Feudal Baron of Irrus
– The lion rampant is a reference to both the first Barratt crest, a demi-lion rampant, the whole lion representing a more ‘complete’ version
– The Coronet Trefle is a first of its kind that nods to the Baron’s loyalism.
